American Sign Language Lessons
Based on respected research (including a longitudinal study by University of California at Davis) learning sign language can yield considerable benefits for children, including: helping to activate formative links in the developing brain, enhancing verbal language development, building vocabulary and refining motor coordination. Our Center combines these lively lessons with music, games, stories and dramatic play. Conducted by Lora Heller, MS and Board Certified Music Therapist.
Private Computer Lessons
In a fully-equipped lab, 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds learn to use the mouse and keyboard, draw, save, print and access CDs while working with educational software. Provided by Little Bytes Computer Learning Institute.
Yoga Exercises for Children
3-, 4- and 5-year-olds have fun while they learn postures derived from yoga. (They roar while practicing the “lion” pose, moo while doing the “cow” pose and meow while doing the “cat” pose!) While being happily entertained, children are strengthening their bodies, learning to breathe and focus attention, engaging their five senses and even releasing anxieties through sound. Conducted by Melissa Rizzolo, Certified and Registered Yoga Instructor.
Holistic Parenting Classes
A series of classes for parents designed to teach natural healing arts skills and techniques.
Aromatherapy and Massage
Aromatherapy (using oils, plants and their fragrances to soothe mind and body) is available in combination with infant massage. These gentle techniques can aid circulation and digestion and also help lessen tension and irritability. Provided by Wendi Browne, Certified Massage Therapist.
Children’s Grocery Bag
At an additional charge, parents can pick up the basics for a child’s healthy breakfast and lunch including organic whole, almond and soy milks; tofu; fruit; cheese; pastas; grain breads; hot and cold cereals, and more.
Parent Involvement
At the end of each day, parents receive verbal and written highlights. Parents can also view a child via live webcam at any time by logging onto a secure Center site.
